Out here in the Southwest when you ask someone if a wild plant is a weed or a wildflower, they’ll usually say, “It depends.” On what? Well it depends on how they see things. And we know that people will see the same thing differently.
This southwestern metaphor can help us decide how much something really matters. A weed may have beautiful blooms and doesn’t cause much trouble beyond that. So some people would leave it alone to do its thing rather than bother pulling it.
The real question might be, “Does it really matter?”
